On Saturday, September 21st, 250+ members of the LMS community gathered in recognition of the 2024 International Day of Peace. To celebrate this joyous day, we held our annual Cultural Fest; a very popular fall event that embraces the diverse cultures that represent our school.
Best event at LMS! Thank you for organizing this and thank you to everyone who prepared food and shared their culture. - LMS Teacher
The two-hour event which was attended by parents, faculty, staff and students was an amazing showcase right in our Multi-purpose room. Families that signed up to host tables, some brand new-to-LMS, brought artifacts, clothing, information, and delicious food to the (literal) table! Attendees took their time touring each country; making connections, discoveries, and yes -- tasting all the food.
I loved how well organized it was and how happy everyone seemed! It was very nice to meet new people and seeing my son so well adjusted to his new school! - LMS Parent
The countries that were represented this year included: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Greece, Haiti, India, Iran, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, Uganda, UK, and West Indies. Children enjoyed visiting each station and collecting stickers at each country for their "passport books"!
The best thing is that not only is there a plethora of delicious food but it comes from our community. That each table represents a different culture and that each table is run by one of our own families from that culture is a fantastic celebration and representation of our values. - Kevin Clark, LMS Head of School
We want to thank all the families for planning, prepping, setting up and entertaining the LMS community during this event. We are grateful to have such generous families who are eager to not only share about themselves but to learn about others.
