Every year, Lower and Upper Elementary students participate in a two-week Residency program, right before we head off for March break.
Why, you might ask, do we do an annual residency? Many years ago, the residency was started to accomplish a variety of things: to provide an opportunity for children to perform for an audience; to allow us to pursue projects with continual focus over an extended time; and to give children a chance to explore intelligences that come to the fore when exploring movement, music, and art all together. Beyond all that, we have created lots of excitement and institutional memories over the years from the performances of circus acts, dance, poetry, puppetry, drumming and plays.
This year, we are very excited to welcome back Wendy O’Byrne, as our resident artist. This will be her third residency with us! Wendy brings an impressive resume to LMS. She is a director, dancer and choreographer. Wendy is currently the owner/director of Contemporarily Out of Order, the Assistant Director at Gate City Ballet, a dance instructor at Boston University, and a choreographer and instructor for the Greater Boston School of Dance.
There will be more information to come in the coming weeks regarding our dress rehearsal and evening performance. Please be sure to save the date: Thursday, March 7th 6pm.
We are all excited to begin our residency on Monday, February 26!!
Thank you,
Kristen
